Free electrical symbols for Visio and AutoCAD

Dear do-it-yourself enthusiast, builder or renovator,

Welcome to my website dedicated to domestic electrical symbols for Visio and AutoCAD. On this page I would like to offer you the possibility to download my free collection of electrical symbols. These symbols allow you to draw your domestic electrical schemes quickly and efficient using Visio or AutoCAD. I searched the web for many days during my time in construction but was not able to find the electrical symbols I needed hence this initiative. I would specially like to thank Joris of www.cadsite.be for the AutoCAD conversion.

All symbols are personally created by me: you can use them royalty free for your domestic projects.

2. Snap and glue points in Visio

Each electrical symbol features carefully added snap and glue points (small blue crosses) which allows the connector tool of Visio to produce arrow straight connections between symbols. This feature does not only allow you to work very efficiently but the result will be a professional looking scheme. The electrical symbols are designed to optimal snap to the Visio grid making drag and drop the only skill you need.

7. Hoe to install the stencils ?

7.1 Instruction for Visio 2002 en 2003

1. Unzip the downloaded file
2. Copy all files to typically: “C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\My Shapes”
3. Launch Visio 2003 or Visio 2002
4. Click: File – Shapes – Open Stencil and browse to the above folder. Select all *.vss files that you require
5. The electrical symbols are designed to work with zoom level 400% (see demo clip on this page)
6. You are now ready to draw you electrical scheme

7.2 Instruction for Visio 2007

1. Unzip the downloaded file
2. Copy all files to typically: “C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Shapes”
3. Launch Visio 2007
4. Click: File – Shapes – Open Stencil and browse to the above folder. Select all *.vss files that you require
5. The electrical symbols are designed to work with zoom level 400% (see demo clip on this page)
6. You are now ready to draw you electrical scheme
