Installation instructions: Visio

Install and launch Visio
Install and launch Visio the usual way.

Unzip
Unzip the files of the Visio-folder to the following location:

Windows XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\My Shapes"
Windows Vista,7 of 10: "C:\Users\your username\Documents\My Shapes"

Adding the electrical shapes
Click FileOpenBrowse to location mentioned above and select all *.vss files required for your diagram.

You are now ready to draw!
By default the electrical shapes are displayed best at a zoom level of 400%

Installation instructions: QElectroTech

Install and launch QElectroTech
The latest verion of QElectroTech can be downloaded from the official website here.

Unzip
Copy the entire subfolder "AREI-RGIE" located in the "QElectroTech" folder to the following location:

In QElectroTech Right click "User Collection" "Open the underlying folder"
In general this will be: "C:\Users\your username\Application Data\qet\elements\"

Reload the collections
In QElectroTech right click "User Collection""Reload collections"

You are now ready to start!
By default the symbols might appear a bit big to you? Simply add sufficient rows and columns to enlarge the folio.

How to use these electrical shapes: SVG

Unzip
Unzip the files of the SVG-folder to a preferred location.

Install and launch an SVG-compatible drawing program
A good choice would be the free and open source software Inkscape.

Open or drag the SVG-files you require into the drawing program

Each line and text of the electrical shape can be modified, the shapes can also be scaled freely
